Q: Does a 1983 Camaro have a shoulder strap for the seatbelt?
I recently bought a 1983 Camaro with T-tops and all there is a lap belt. I have had three Camaros before but none with T- tops and I never been in a Camaro of that year with T-Tops. I looked around the car to see if it was just missing but it doesn’t look like it.
A: 1965 was the first year for seat belts had to be in the car buy law, 1969 was the first year for shoulder belts had to be in the car and again by law.
so yes 1983 camaros do or should have them.
it should be on the b-post just behind where the door closes about half way up the window.
Q: How much would it cost me to drop an engine in a 1983 Camaro?
How much would it cost me to drop an engine in a 85-87 Camaro Iroc? (Christmas present for Husband)?
My husband has had the engine sitting inside his garage for 10 years.
It’s a 1983 z28 but I think it had a 350 5.7L instead of a 305 5.0 w/a fivespeed.
A: About 3500 dollars. I had a new 83 camaro. They have something called crossfire induction rather than fuel injection. This was an inferior setup and lasted one year. Whatever you do do not reuse that system. The best bet is to buy a new crate motor and have it installed using the old parts needed from the current car, assuming it ran and did not have the crossfire engine. If you take the garage motor, I agree it will need work prior to installation, plus he will see that it is missing while it is being rebuilt. You can have a garage collect the new crate engine and the bits needed to install it and haul the camaro out and have it installed pretty quickly, although one day would be a miracle.
Q: How much is a 1983 camaro worth?
A 1983 Camaro silver, V8 engine, automatic transmition, great shape barelly any rust at all, cassette player, am/fm radeo, 101,000 miles, runs and rides great. Interior is black and in good shape, the seats good be replaced in the front but new seat covers would make them more than adiquate. Speedometer needs wires reconnected and the same with the gas gadge, other than that it’s perfect.
A: According to NADA Classic Car values low book is $2250 average book is $4000 high book is $5875. Judging by how you have described your car I’d say its probably worth right around $3500 – $3800. This is book value on a regular Camaro. If its a Z28 it would be worth more. Hope this helped
Q: Need exhaust suggestions for 1983 camaro?
I have a 1983 camaro 2.8L V6 and i need some suggestions for an exhaust kit that will make it sound like it’s got a V8 in it. i was thinking flowmaster. if you know how dynomax would sound please let me know.
A: the flow master is good but the dynomax has a deeper sound if you go with the three inch exhaust and tuneable mufflers you can make it sound just like a v8 it will be hard to tell the difference in them
Q: Is an 1983 camaro windshield the same as an 1984?
Hey,
Just bought an 84 camaro z28 and the windshield is cracked. I saw a parts car that is an 83 z28 and was wondering if the windshields are the same.
A: They should be seeing as how 83′ and 84′ have the exact same body style.
Q: Where is the fuel filter on my 1983 Camaro 305 TBI Crossfire?
Can someone please help, I don’t know where the fuel filter on my camaro is. It’s a 305 TBI Crossfire fuel Injectioin. And could a clogged fuel filter be giving me problems with starting the car. It takes maybe 4-5 seconds of cranking.
Also does my camaro have a cabin air filter??? I don’t think so but just wanted to ask,
Thanks
A: Driver’s side rear/middle of car on the frame rail. The filter is mounted right before the control arm in the rear.
Q: In a 1983 Camaro How do I remove the pulley?
I have a 305 Carbed Chevy. I can not seem to remove the pulley. Now is there a bolt that holds it on? I have the pulley puller for it but i cant seem to get it off.
A: What pulley out of the 4 that their are give more explanation.
Are you Talking about the crankshaft PULLEY, Camshaft pulley, Alternator pulley, Water pump pulley, I need more details.
Q: 1983 Camaro steering problem?
I have a 1983 z28 camaro. I took it to get inspected and the garage said i needed a drag link and pitman arm. I found the drag link at autozone, which is called a center link, but I can’t find a pitman arm at either auto stores. Is the pitman arm called something else?
Yea, it also needs tie rod ends, just didn’t include it in my question. Thanks for the answers guys.
A: the pitman arm is the one that connects to the steering box,,they dont ever need replacing,,there solid steel with no joints.so whomever told you it needed replacing, lied to you. good luck! if you insist on changing it, you need a puller, and get a used one at any auto salvage yard that carries GM vehicles.
Q: What Size Speakers are in a 1983 Camaro Z/28?
I hear a lot of static in the back speakers and I think the right side don’t work actually. Do you know what the static could be from, and what size they are? And I have maybe 50 Dollars to Spend so what do you think are the best ones for that kind of money. I don’t listen to the bias and turn the volume up all the way. I just don’t want to hear the static. Thanks
A: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/autoinfo/autoinfo.asp?lp=/app/Car/MyCar.aspx
go to this site and put in your car and it will tell you everything you need to know and then you can look at speakers to buy from here also.
Q: I have a 1983 Camaro Z28 and the turn signals work when the lights are off but not when on.?
I have the lights off and the turn signals work just fine but when i switch on my headlights etc the blinkers become solid? Is it the flasher? because i replaced all the bulbs.
A: I would look for a bad ground connection. When your lights are on and you turn on the turn signals do the parking lights dim? That might tell you where to look.
Q: why is crossfire injection on a 1983 camaro bad?
and i just bought one that has been modified to have it tooken away and will that help the hp or performance?
A: No jap crap… You my friend are wrong.
The 1982 and 83 camaro Z28’s and firebird trans ams has crossfire induction.
1982 camaro Z28 and firebird Trans Am with crossfire (CFI)
LU5 305, 165 HP, 240 ftlbs, man 4 speed trans or auto 3 speed
1983 camaro Z28 and firebird Trans Am with CFI
LU5 305, 175 HP, 250 ft lbs, auto 4 speed only
Those cars also came stock with a fiberglass hood with working ram air/cowl type scoop
And the crossfire camaros/firebirds in 82 and 83 had an exhaust that had two mufflers connected by a pipe instead of a regular cross-flow dual outlet muffler.
Now to the asker… Yes a good 4 bbl alum intake, 4 bbl carb, and HEI dizzy will give you better performance, more HP, better fuel mileage, and non of the probs of the crossfire.
The crossfire was a good idea but flawed design that just never worked like it should have
Q: what should i time my 1983 camaro 305 4barrel, what should it be timed at?
not sure what it should be timed at, and i dont have a book.
A: usually i believe most chevy’s are timed to 8-10 degrees. my 350 is at 10 degrees advance
Q: friends selling a 1983 camaro with a 1979 350 bored out engine good metal and fair interior how much u think?

A: $500
Q: need exhaust suggestions for 1983 camaro?
i have a 1983 camaro 2.8L V6 and i need suggestions on an exhaust kit that will make it sound like it’s got a V8 in it. i was thinking on flowmaster. if you know how dynomax sounds please let me know.
A: Flowmaster is better than dynomax. dynomax just clamps on which screw with the pipes leaving the exaust manifold. get flowmaster.
Q: Should I buy a 1983 Chevy Camaro with a 305 crossfire engine?
My car Died so I was looking for a car I found a 1983 chevy camaro with a 305 Crossfire engine it looks ok and runs, but I don’t want a car that will cost me alot to use I just need to get around. Are the parts alot if they brake and are they hard to install. Is it worth buying
A: That would be a great car. The 305 is the classic Chevy small block, which everybody and his grandmother makes parts for. And when that wears out (many years from now), you could drop in a 350 crate engine, or even a big block.
