Q: What can I do to make 2000 Camaro SS wheels fit my 1996 Camaro RS?
I bought a set of 2000 Camaro SS wheels thinking they would fit right on my 1996 Camaro RS. The axle hole on the SS wheels is 1/16th of an inch too small to fit. Is there an easy way to maybe get it machined that much bigger safely? I have seen the wheels on other Camaros like mine so i was just wondering if anyone knew.
A: try putting a spacer on the back of the wheel. If they don’t fit yours. I’m sure they would fit mine.
Q: 1996 camaro?
When I take off it sometimes feels like it is “pulling”
I take off then it kinda feels like it is hitting bumps and sometimes takes longer than usual to get up to speed due to these unusual pulling bump feelings. What is this? Is this my transmission wearing out? The car has 153,000 miles on it, thx
A: u need to get the transmission looked at it sounds like the gears are skipping because they are getting ground down

Q: how to fix a 1996 camaro park lamp short?

A: It’s probably the socket. If not try to trace the wire back and look for bare spots.

Q: Does anyone know how to correctly bypass the coolant fan relay correctly on a 1996 Camaro Z28?
I believe it is relay #3 connections 3, and 4. I’m not sure how to wire it exactly. And yes the relay needs to be put back in or the fuse will blow and the check engine light comes on. Do I have to disconnect any wires or just run a hot wire and ground to the toggle switch? Someone with experience with a 1996 Z28 please help. The 96 wiring is different than the 95 wiring too, so i’m kinda stuck here.
A: I cut this section out of the article on the link below. You can use the link to get the scoop on the earlier models if, you need it.
Good luck!
Q: Can the fans be rigged to come on while the engine is not running?
On 1996 and later models, the wiring has changed and the above procedure will blow the fan fuse and turn on the Service Engine Light. So instead, in the underhood fuse box, remove the relay labeled ‘F’. Molded into the plastic on the box itself where the relay was is the letter ‘F’ as well as numbers for each connector. You want to connect the pin labeled ‘3′ with the pin labeled ‘4′. Note that this is a real feed, and bypasses the relay, so use at least 14 gauge wire. Current is 12A startup, and 8A running. Use a switch that can handle the load.
Solder the wires to the bottom of the fusebox, and put the switch just in front of the box where there already is a unused hole. Black wires and a black switch makes it looks neat. With this setup, you can turn the fan on whenever you want, even with the engine off. Don’t forget to put the relay back once you locate the correct connections. Without relay, a code is set and the Service Engine light is lit. If you happen to get a light, it won’t go away until you reset the computer. The easiest way to do that is to disconnect the negative battery cable for about 1 minute.
Q: where is my fuel reset switch on a 1996 chevy camaro?
I just went and spent $225.00 on a new fuel pump for my 1996 chevy camaro, but its still not getting fuel. can anyone please tell me where I can find the dang relay/reset fuel switch?
Thanks to all who answered this question, We found out what was wrong, It was a wire burnt into.
A: GM did not use a “reset” switch for fuel. Fords did.
The fuel pump relay is in the underhood bussed electrical center.
Q: what is the top speed of a 1994 an 1996 V6 camaro?
i was wondering the top speed of a V6 1994 an 1996 standard (manual) camaro?
A: With the standard 5 speed, you’ll be able to do over 110 (as high as the gauges go). In an auto they are limited electronically to 118, but with 5 speed you can probably get up to 125-130. The 94-95 had the 3.4L engine as the base model V6, 96 and up had the 3.8L engine as the base model V6. You should at least be able to hit 115 no problem, as I’ve been able to do this with mine (‘91); it’s automatic and has the even smaller 3.1L V6.
Q: how do i figure out if my motor on my 1996 camaro has been rebuilt or replaced in the past years?
i drive a 1996 camaro V6 with 277k miles on it and the service engine light is not onn yet and i owned this car for 1 year and 6 months now, and im wondering if their is a way to find out if the motor been REBUILT or REPLACED by the previos owners.
A: You can pull the heads off and if it has been rebuilt you will see the oversize number on the piston tops. Usually it will show STD(19), 30, 60, 90 thousands, as it means the amount of overbore the pistons are.
No other way to tell except to see if it has crosshatch pattern on cylinder walls as being recently rebuilt.
Q: Is there a way where I can convert my 1996 Camaro Headlights to the 99-02 head light style?
Do you know of a website where I can find the kit?
I do not want to convert the entire front end, just the headlights, is it possible?
A: It’s actually 98 and up. Get the front end off a 98-02 in a junk yard.
Q: is having red fog lights on a 1996 camaro illegal in north carolina?
because im planning to buy me red light bulbs for my fog lights, but i dont know if its illegal or not, somebody help me?
A: im in NC to and i would think so, red and blue lights are for emergency vehicles, only way you might could have red lights was if you were a volunteer fireman, best to ask a cop, state trooper would be best but any local or sheriff would be fine to ask to, you might could even just call your local PD and someone should be able to tell you
Q: What could be the cause of the AC to go out in a 1996 Camaro?
What are the causes for it to go out, and how much would it cost to fix it?
A: A/C is a speciality field and I could write several pages on what to check, but it would mean nothing to you if you don’t understand what I’m talking about. Expect to spend some money and if your lucky, you might find a free lance technician that needs a little extra spending money that will check it out for you for a good price. Best advice, do what you know and leave the other things to those that do know.
Q: How do you wire axillary lights for a 1996 camaro?
I want to hook them to accessory wires so they are not on 24/7
Thanks in advance
A: If you want to protect your wiring harness you will want an aux. lamp wiring kit. That allows the lamps to run directly off the battery and they are switched through a dash mounted switch and a relay. Prevents a lot of heartache later on. Feed for the relay can be taken of a accessory wire so that the lights swith off with the ignition. I ran my foglamps relay off a low beam power wire so that the fog lamps would shut off when I switched to high beams (that’s the law where I live).
Q: I need to find a diagram for the emissions system on a 1996 Camaro SS?
A website preferably. I need one with part names to be more specific. A Z28 diagram would be the same.
A: You can start you search here:

Good Luck
Q: I have a 1996 camaro v8 and I am experinacing a overheating problem. Fluid is coming up out of the overflow.?
I topped off the coolaint with the proper anti freeze required for this engine. Should I first try the tremostat and then have the waterpump checked?
A: Have you ever changed the thermostat on this car? If not, that’s probably your problem. If this is an LT1 V8, make sure not to get the optispark wet or you will end up changing the distributer cap too, and that’s expensive. I used a shop vac on my LT1. Pull the top hose off slowly, while sucking the anti-freeze out of the thermostat housing. Then loosen the housing and keep the vac going to make sure no anti-freeze spills while you pull the housing off. The water pump usually leaks through a small hole either on top or bottom to let you know they are going bad.
