A: I wouldn’t pay more than 2500 if it’s mechanically sound and doesn’t have outrageous mileage. The Blue Book Value of an 89 (it won’t go older than 1989) that is in even excellent condition is only 1700, and thats figuring it have 100000 miles or less. Pay a little to buy, and spend even more to fix it up. That’s the only way to make it a good first car. have fun.

Some of the things I need on the top of my head is a front windshield, side mirror, rear view mirror a dashboard. I’m thinking of looking around at some junkyards but don’t know if that’s a place where I should look. I live in central Ohio so if you live near and know any reliable junkyards let me know.

A: Ive had luck with these three as for a windshield try a local glass shop that way if it is broken in transit or installation It’s their responsibility Check out Hemmings Motor News it’s the best place to start looking when restoring a car.

A: According to this Edmunds.com article, where the writer actually drove the car, it is a 1976. It’s an interesting article to read; it gives reasons why the movie makers chose the ‘76 model (they said the ‘69 would’ve been way too cool for Bumblebee to start out as), some of the stuff they did to it, etc.

A: Yes it can but I’ve only seen class 1 hitches for them Class 1 is only rated at about 2000-2500 lbs. It would be enough for a small trailer or a couple of jet skis.

A: If you mean “gear” oil as is used in your rear differential gears, conventional 90 weight gear oil, but don’t take my word for it – see your car’s owner’s manual. If you want to get better gas mileage, replace the standard petroleum gear oil in the rear differential with Mobil Oil’s Synthetic gear lube 90 weight oil (see weblink). If you have positraction, you may need a special oil additive sometimes from your GM dealer. You can download your owner’s manual for free at the link below.
If you mean transmission fluid, then again, refer to your owner’s manual, but any auto parts store has the newest Dexron 3 transmission fluid you can use in your transmission. When you buy the Dexron 3 at the auto store, also pick up the special transmission fluid filler funnel you’ll need which has a very long and narrow neck to fit into the transmission’s fill tube. Make sure to check the transmission’s fluid level only after the engine and transmission is hot and the engine idling in Park on a level surface.

Q: What suspension parts to change in a 1999 Camaro?
Hello, I bought a used Chevy Camaro V6 at 95k miles from a used dealer and it now has 112k miles on it. The car has always sat pretty low (probably the dumb owner before me had it lowered even more…….) but now it seems that it’s not doing that well over bumps and such.

What do I need to change : shocks and struts and where are they located (rear/front)?

A: we recommend changing shocks/struts at anything over 75K miles. If the shocks have been worn for a long time, chances are the springs are shot, too. I believe the older Camaros had shocks all the way around.

Q: Does a 95 Chevy Camaro have a stock alarm?
I bought a used camaro and it has a keyless entry remote but the battery died and when I replaced it, it wouldn’t work. The more important question is does a 95 Camaro come with an alarm? The car has stickers on the windows that says it has an alarm but I don’t know if the previous owner just put the stickers on the car. If it has an alarm it must be disconnected.

Hyper I really appreciate your response but I read that those instructions were for a new model than I have.

A: No it does not have a stock alarm. If the Battery died in the remote and you changed the battery and it doesn’t work you may have to program the remote. If your car has an alarm there should be a device under the hood that looks like a horn (black) with a red wire gong to the battery or a fuse block. If there was stickers there is probably an alarm they come with it.
